Professional Appointments

From 2009 to 2010, Paul served as the x-ray science division group leader for surface scattering and microdiffraction at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) located at Argonne National Laboratory. Before Paul became group leader, he performed and supported research at the APS as a staff physicist, starting in 2006.

From 1995 to 2006, he worked at the Frederick-Seitz Materials Research Laboratory, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he initially served as the associate director until 2002 and was then promoted to the director of the University-National Lab-Industry Collaborative Access Team.

Prior to his relocation to the University of Illinois, Paul worked, from 1989 to 1995, for Oak Ridge National Laboratory as the beamline scientist for Oak Ridge’s synchrotron x-ray facility at the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS).
