Joanna Zajac of Brookhaven Lab's Instrumentation Department presents how scientists model theoretically, build and test a dark matter detector facilitating an array of laser written NV centers in diamond. Theoretical simulation and experiments using confocal microscopy allow scientists to demonstrate proof-of-principle device operation.
