Warren A. Kibbe
Chief Data Officer for the Duke Cancer Institute
Warren A. Kibbe, PhD is the Chief Data Officer for the Duke Cancer Institute. In this role, he is responsible for defining the overall informatics and data strategy for DCI and incorporating data science into the research agenda in DCI. Prior to joining Duke, he served as an acting deputy director of the NCI and was the director of the NCI’s Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information. As a recognized national leader in cancer informatics and data sharing, Dr. Kibbe has been instrumental in efforts to speed scientific discovery and facilitate translational research by using IT and data science to address complex research challenges. Dr. Kibbe is currently the member of five external advisory boards for NCI-designated Cancer Centers and the co-founder of the Cancer Informatics for Cancer Centers (Ci4CC) society which organizes twice-yearly cancer informatics meetings with representation from academia, industry, and NCI. Dr. Kibbe also serves as an advisor to the NCI Integrated Canine Data Commons (ICDC) and chairs the Data Governance Advisor Committee for the ICDC. He is also a lead for the White House Childhood Cancer Data Initiative (CCDI) run through the NCI, working to incorporate the EHR data interoperability standards to make EHR data portable for all childhood cancer patients.
