Quality Management
at Brookhaven
National Laboratory
It is the mission
of the Quality Management Office to be an
aggressive advocate for – and support the line organization in – developing
programs, activities, and services that perpetuate the integration of
Quality, Environmental, and Integrated Safety Management principles
throughout Brookhaven National Laboratory. In accomplishing this mission,
the Quality Management Office will support execution of all Laboratory
mission objectives, critical outcomes, and contract performance measures
that are assigned to the Office.
It is the vision of the Quality Management Office to have internal and external customers
recognize the organization as best-in-class providers of quality services.
The Quality Management Office is responsible for:
- Carrying out the day-to-day operational aspects of the
Quality Management System
- Performing an annual review, as a minimum, of the
BNL
Quality Assurance Program Description
(QAP) to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, documenting
major changes and submitting them to DOE, with updates, for review and
approval as required
- Providing professional assistance, guidance, and training to BNL
personnel in matters pertaining to quality management
- Carrying out day to day functions of BNL's
Integrated
Assessment Program and the Assessment Support Center
- Assisting Laboratory management with independent and self-assessments,
upon request
- Managing the functions of SBMS and the
SBMS website
- Providing senior management with analysis of data relative to
events/issues and performance, including Key Performance Indicators
(KPIs) through the Performance
Analysis Group
- Managing BNL's
Continual Improvement Program and associated
Competitiveness Improvement
Projects (CIP)
- Human Performance Improvement
(HPI)
- Managing the BNL
Assessment Tracking System (ATS);

(DOECAP) by assisting in performing qualification assessments of
environmental analytical laboratories and commercial waste treatment,
storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs)
- Supporting the Policy and Strategic Planning office in the operation
of BNL's Integrated Planning Management System
