Computational Research
Equipped with advanced applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, and HPC capabilities, CDS works closely with domain scientists to develop, adapt, and optimize advanced scalable algorithms, programming models adaptive workflows, and other hardware and software that can augment diverse, data-intensive applications. This work impacts critical Lab mission areas in computational physics, materials science, biology, and energy and environmental sciences, as well as provides a critical connection point for collaborators from across the globe.
Applied Mathematics
Develops and applies the mathematics necessary to model and solve real-world problems. Our team consists of mathematicians, statisticians, engineers, and physicists who work together and with domain scientists at Brookhaven and elsewhere on large-scale, interdisciplinary challenges. mission research areas include climate change, materials science, accelerator science, biomedicine, plant pathology, energy systems, and quantum computing.
Artificial Intelligence
Details to come.
Computational Science
The Computational Science Department leads innovative research at the intersection of advanced computing and scientific discovery. Evolving from a foundation in High Performance Computing (HPC) and data-driven discovery, the department now spans a broader mission: developing and deploying novel computational methods to solve some of the most complex scientific challenges of our time.
