Motivation
The Laboratory for BioMolecular Structure (LBMS) at Brookhaven National Laboratory aims to organize, support, and grow the cryo-EM community for researchers funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). This annual virtual cryo-EM course introduces the technique to researchers working in DOE mission-relevant fields, equipping them with the knowledge to begin using this powerful and versatile technique.
By doing so, the course helps advance our understanding of the biological complexity of plant and microbial metabolism, from the molecular level to entire ecosystems. Additionally, it supports the development of technologies to identify and engineer DOE mission-relevant metabolic capabilities in bacteria, fungi, archaea, viruses, plants, and mixed microbial communities.
