2012 NSLS & CFN Joint Users’ Meeting Starts Today, 5/21

The annual National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) and Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) Joint Users’ Meeting begins today, May 21, and all are invited to the plenary sessions in Berkner Hall.

8:35 a.m. BNL Update from Doon Gibbs, Deputy Director for Science and Technology, Brookhaven National Laboratory
8:55 a.m. Basic Energy Sciences (BES) Update from Harriet Kung, Associate Director of Science for BES within the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science
9:40 a.m. Keynote Address by Gina Kolata, bestselling author and award-winning senior writer for science and medicine for the New York Times
10:40 a.m. Photon Sciences Update from Steve Dierker, Associate Laboratory Director for Photon Sciences, Brookhaven National Laboratory
11:10 a.m. CFN Update from Emilio Mendez, Director, Center for Functional Nanomaterials, Brookhaven National Laboratory
At 1:30 p.m., Eric Johnson, Deputy Director for Programs for the Photon Sciences Directorate will lead a special session to discuss planning for the transition from NSLS to NSLS-II. User feedback will be critical for moving forward on this issue, so all NSLS (and prospective NSLS-II) users are strongly encouraged to plan on attending this session.
