Licensing, Cooperative Research
and Development Opportunities
The Office of Technology Commercialization and
Partnerships (TCP) manages
intellectual property assets of Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and
coordinates collaborative development projects between laboratory scientists
and industrial partners. Our mission is to foster
commercial development of inventions and discoveries made at BNL. We do this
through licensing patented technologies and by facilitating continued
research and development of basic scientific findings.

Start-Up America Initiative
As a part of the Startup America Initiative, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced on March 29th 2011, the “America’s
Next Top Energy Innovator” challenge. This effort gives start-up companies an opportunity to commercialize the groundbreaking
technologies developed by the Department of Energy’s National Laboratories such as Brookhaven National Laboratory. The
initiative reduces both the cost and paperwork requirements for start-up companies to partner and take the exciting
inventions of the lab to the market place. The challenge will run from May 2, 2011 until December 15, 2011.
