Prior to joining Brookhaven Lab, Poorni directed research focused on investigating the mechanisms involved in the development of polycystic kidney disease and renal fibrosis, most recently as a senior scientist at Long-Island Jewish Medical Center, NY, and prior to that as a tenure track assistant professor at Vanderbilt University. During her tenure as a scientist, she has been the recipient of several competitive NIH grants. In addition, she has authored a book chapter and articles in significant peer-reviewed journals. Poorni has also served as a reviewer for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
