Guide to Brookhaven
The Guide to Brookhaven National Laboratory contains information for people living on or near our campus. It contains an extnesive list of local places to eat and shop as well as descriptions of on-site ameneties like food, banking, postal services, and more.
The Laboratory maintains a number of recreation facilities on site including a swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis courts, a weight room, and a recreation park with ball fields and picnic facilities. Swimming is free to students and postdocs with a valid identification badge.
Located on the corner of Bell Ave and Center Street in Bldg 462, the ASAP Lounge is a common area where students and post-docs can get together and relax. Amenities include television, foosball, billiards, and ping pong tables. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If you are new to New York state, there a few things you need to know about operating a vehicle here. And if you plan on riding a bicylcle on site, there are some safety pointers to be aware of. If you don't have a car, the Lab operates a shuttle to the nearest train station.
