General Lab Information

Brookhaven National Lab follows the nationwide identification requirements for federal site access. Anyone 18 years of age and older must have a valid REAL ID, Enhanced ID, Passport or one of these alternate forms of ID to gain access to the Laboratory.

Motivation

The construction and testing of model bridges promotes the study and application of principles of physics and engineering, and it helps students develop hands-on skills. By participating, students gain insight into what it is to be an engineer: designing structures to a set of specifications and testing their functionality.

This 2026 Bridge Building Competition is open to the public. To be eligible to attend, all participants must register online by February 25, 2026. For questions or assistance with registering, please contact the Competition Coordinator.
