AAAG Talk on Friday, 2/23: Prof. John Johnson, St. Peter's University, on 'Science, Race, and Gender'

John Johnson, professor of history at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, N.J., will speak on "Science, Race, and Gender" at Brookhaven Lab on Friday, Feb. 23, at 4:30 p.m. in the Physics Large Seminar Room (Bldg. 510). Refreshments will be served at 4 p.m. Add this event to your calendar.

The talk is sponsored by Brookhaven’s African American Affinity Group (AAAG) as part of the Lab’s Black History Month celebration and is open to the public. Visitors to the Lab 16 and older must carry a photo ID while on site.

Johnson’s talk surveys the history of racial sciences, and considers the efforts of African Americans, notably black women, to disprove racial theories, surmount structural racism, and redefine the role of women in American society.

AAAG provides a forum where employees and guests can promote awareness of the Black, African, African-American and Caribbean cultures, share professional insights, acquire information and provide leadership on their careers and work environment within Brookhaven Lab. Learn more about AAAG.
