Brookhaven Lab Open to the Public on Summer Sundays, July 14 – August 4, 2013

This Sunday, July 14, enjoy tours of world-class facilities and a fabulous day of hands-on family fun! Use the basic scientific method to explore magnets, mirrors, and more. Hop aboard a fire truck and learn all about the Laboratory’s protective services. See the “Fire Safety” show and be captivated by “Phenomenal Physics” with Mr. Fish. Listen to a talk by the Lab’s Senior Scientist, Stephen E. Schwartz, on “Energy, CO2, Climate, and YOU!” at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. in the Science Education Center.
Plus, this Sunday, there will be four live bands from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., an ultimate Frisbee exhibition, motorcycle display and safety instruction, antique and classic cars display, and a photography exhibit, all courtesy of members of the Brookhaven Employee Recreation Association.
No reservations are needed, but visitors 16 and older must bring a photo I.D. Visitors may arrive any time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. All activities are on a first-come, first-served basis. A different facility will be featured each week and the last facility tour takes place at 3 p.m. Science shows will be held at noon, 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. each Sunday in Berkner Hall. The cafeteria and gift shop, also located in Berkner Hall, will be open until 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
