August 29, 2008

Casing of the Colors ceremony.
On Sunday September 7, at 11:00 a.m., the Laboratory will host a ceremony to mark the retiring of the 77th U.S. Army Regional Readiness Command -- the infantry division that began its distinguished 91-year history on the Lab site, formerly the site of Camp Upton, a U.S. Army induction and training center during WWI and WWII. The division will formally retire its colors. Lab employees, guests, and community members are invited to attend.
The Casing of the Colors ceremony will be led by 77th Commanding General William Terpeluk and will include units in formation, Veteran Color Guards, and a 21-gun salute.
The ceremony will take place on the field adjacent to the Brookhaven Center, near the flagpole. The event is open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 years and older must bring a photo I.D.
