Erick Hunt is Director of Strategic Partnership Programs at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He was previously BNL's Research Partnerships Manager. The Strategic Partnership Programs Office integrates BNL's industry engagement, technology licensing, and economic development functions to expand the impact of collaborative research and technology commercialization. Strategic Partnership Programs supports BNL's science mission through identifying, pursuing, and managing partnerships with a broad set of private-sector companies, federal agencies, and other non-federal entities.
Erick served as a detailee in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Technology Transitions (OTT). In his role as Commercialization Executive, he led OTT’s Innovation Workforce Team. In this capacity, he was the lead for OTT’s STEM Outreach, University Partnerships, and Workforce Development activities. Erick was also part of the effort that developed the COVID-19 Technical Assistance Program (CTAP). He was also the project leader for the Solutions Exchange (Solex). Solex connects parties seeking capabilities not readily available in the marketplace with U.S. Department of Energy National Labs.
Before joining BNL, Erick was responsible for legal operations at Oerlikon Metco. Prior to his stint at Oerlikon, Erick was employed at BAE Systems. Based in Greenlawn, NY, he administered measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT) contracts for the Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance (ISR) directorate and was named a Subject Matter Expert in the field of Product Support Contracting. Erick successfully completed the Commercial Leadership Program at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom and the Oerlikon LeaD Program. Erick began his career as a warranted Contracting Officer with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs where he participated in the Genesis Leadership Development Program and graduated from the Technical Career Field Internship Program.
