Elspeth is the Director of The Energy and Photon Science Growth office which supports strategic growth by identifying new opportunities and sponsors which align with our expertise and capabilities. Her role includes planning and implementation of new research programs which are strategic and sustainable. This involves working with the lab personnel to form strategic partnerships and develop compelling proposals. She works closely with the Stakeholders communication group to facilitate internal and external communication about growth activities. Her work involves adapting our internal processes to improve engagement for proposal development, contracts and operational issues which facilitate and support the growth agenda.

Elspeth has been instrumental in establishing the Laboratory of BioMolecular Structure (LBMS) and the Codesign Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA).

Expertise

Prior to joining Brookhaven Elspeth worked at the  European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) as an Industrial liaison scientist for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies accessing the facilities. During her time at the ESRF she was responsible for business development, industrial marketing and establishing a number of business-to-business collaborations.

Elspeth trained as a structural biologist and held a number of post doctoral research positions in the UK and France before becoming more involved in business development activities.
