Dr. Kali Prasanna Mondal is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Instrumentation & Electron Source Group within the Collider-Accelerator Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory. His research focuses on the development of advanced semiconductor photocathodes and thin-film materials for accelerator-based electron sources through the integration of thin-film synthesis, synchrotron X-ray characterization, ultra-high vacuum (UHV) instrumentation, and surface/interface science. He conducts synchrotron beamtime experiments at NSLS-II and develops in-situ experimental platforms for materials growth and characterization. His work supports advanced accelerator technologies, including the Low Energy RHIC Electron Cooling (LEReC), Coherent Electron Cooling (CeC), and future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) programs. His research aims to understand and engineer structure–property relationships in functional materials to improve electron source performance for next-generation accelerator applications.
