Menzel Smith-Jones

Menzel Smith-Jones, a certified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist, has dedicated nine years of service to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office at Brookhaven National Laboratory. With a total of fourteen years of tenure at the organization, she initially served as an Administrative Assistant for the Office of Educational Programs. Throughout her career, Smith-Jones has demonstrated a strong commitment to working closely with marginalized populations and communities.

Formerly, Smith-Jones served as Chair of the Brookhaven Advocacy Council (BAC), a body that advises and offers recommendations to the Deputy Laboratory Director on addressing employee, guest, and user concerns. Additionally, she fulfills roles as a liaison for the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), DEI Directorate Councils, and Special Lens Groups.

Currently pursuing her graduate studies at SUNY Empire State University, Smith-Jones has obtained her DEI certification from both the School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) at Cornell University and the University of South Florida.
