Attacca Quartet to Perform at Brookhaven Lab August 14

UPTON, NY — The internationally acclaimed Attacca Quartet will perform at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, August 14, at noon in Berkner Hall.  Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages the Lab, the concert is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory 16 and older must bring a photo I.D.

The Attacca Quartet currently serves as the Juilliard Graduate Resident String Quartet. Since their performance at the Lab in 2009, the Quartet has won first prize in the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, as well as top prizes in the Melbourne International String Quartet Competition.

Attacca is continuing into its third season of "The 68" concert series, which encompasses the complete string quartets of Haydn. In March of this year, they released a new CD, The Complete String Quartets of John Adams.

For their performance at Brookhaven, Attacca Quartet will perform Schubert's String Quartet in E flat major and the Opus 132 Quartet of Beethoven, which will form part of their presentation at the Banff International String Quartet Competition in late August.
