CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric Visits BNL

Katie Couric and Nora Volkow

"CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric visited Brookhaven on November 17 to film part of a "60 Minutes" segment on "smart" drugs — substances such as Ritalin and modafinil that are being used by college students and others presumably to enhance concentration, memory, and alertness. Couric interviewed Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, at BNL's Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Imaging Laboratory, where she conducts research on these and other drugs in collaboration with BNL researchers. The Lab community will be notified when an air date is scheduled.
