Video: Biotechnology from Brookhaven Critical for COVID Vaccines

When Bill Studier and his colleagues in Brookhaven Lab's Biology Department patented the T7 expression system in 1984, they didn't know more than 35 years later it would be a critical tool in the fight against a global pandemic. Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna used the T7 system to ramp up production of their COVID-19 vaccines.

In this talk by the chair of Brookhaven's Biology Department, John Shanklin discusses Studier, his research, and his impact.

More about Studier and some of the science behind the COVID-19 vaccines is available here.
