On Friday, April 29, Brookhaven Lab hosted L.I. Cablevision’s popular government affairs talk show, Meet the Leaders, for an on-site taping of four half-hour segments for upcoming episodes of the program. To capture the excitement and atmosphere of the Lab, Cablevision set up a mini traveling television studio in the lobby of the Chemistry building, where the shows were taped, and traveled around the site to get background footage of Lab people and facilities.

Meet the Leaders host and former Suffolk County Executive Pat Halpin interviewed Lab Director Sam Aronson, U.S. Congressman Tim Bishop, Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko, and Suffolk County Economic Development Commissioner Yves R. Michel. Discussion topics ranged from the importance of federal funding for scientific research to the economic impact of the Lab on Long Island and across NY State.
“It was nice to have the taping here because it gave our local elected officials the opportunity to say some very positive things about the Laboratory,” said Aronson. “I thank CEGPA for all the work done to set it up, and thank the Chemistry Department for being such gracious hosts.”
