General Lab Information

Purpose

The Quantum Information Science Career Fair aims to bring awareness to the wide range of QIS internships and careers available to college students, postdocs, faculty and early-career professionals — from scientific and engineering roles to supporting business roles that facilitate research objectives. Reaching the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science’s goal to meet future scientific challenges with a diversified, trained workforce is critical for the field. The QIS Career Fair addresses this need by creating opportunities for job seekers, policy and decision makers, and hiring organizations to converge.

Participants will hear from experts in government, academia, and industry about the QIS market, get their questions answered, build their professional networks, and meet directly with potential employers. The event will showcase jobs available at national laboratories, academic institutions, and industry.

Speakers & Panelists

The 2023 Quantum Information Science Career Fair features speakers and panelists from numerous areas of QIS. Representatives from academia and industry will answer your questions about what it’s like to work at a company or a university. Grad students, postdocs, and senior researchers will be on hand to talk about their educational paths. And experts in nontechnical areas will share the joys and challenges of playing a supporting role in the exciting area of QIS.

National Quantum Information Science Research Centers

National Quantum Information Science Research Centers (NQISRCs), funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, are accelerating transformational advances in basic science and quantum-based technologies needed to assure continued U.S. leadership in quantum information science. The NQISRCs are driving the growth of the nation’s quantum workforce.

Through workshops, internships, fellowships, and postdoctoral and visiting-faculty appointments, the centers train tomorrow’s quantum scientists, engineers, technicians, and supporting team members. By actively engaging students and young researchers in world-leading R&D, the centers are helping to ensure a vibrant quantum community in the U.S. for decades to come.
