Since beginning her career as a managing editor and writer for a privately owned trade publications company, Charity Plata has provided marketing, advertising, proposal and corporate copywriting, as well as comprehensive editorial oversight for a variety of clients and industries. Charity is a longtime writer and editor with an affinity for managing challenging projects and compressed schedules. Moreover, she aims to apply the ideal balance of appropriate capability, capacity and aptitude to every project.

Expertise

Currently, Charity provides comprehensive editorial oversight to Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Computational Science Initiative. Her writing and editing career spans diverse industries, including publishing, architecture, civil engineering and professional sports. Prior to joining Brookhaven Lab in 2018, she worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory primarily within the Advanced Computing, Mathematics and Data Division.

Since 2013, Charity has been a member of the Workshop on Modeling & Simulation of Systems and Applications Organizing Committee, as well as a member of the DOE Booth Committee for the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (commonly known as SC). She served on the SC Communications Committee for SC19 and SC20 and is communications vice chair for SC23 and SC24.
