David has many years of diverse experience before coming to Brookhaven Lab. His career began in Ireland as a production technician in 1987 at Munekata Ireland, a Japanese multinational plastic injection molding manufacturer. During his 12 years there he worked in various roles such as a machine setter, quality control inspection, and as a technical lead operator. He first became familiar with robotics and automation there which nurtured an interest in technology. David then moved to General Electric to work as a machinist and technician in the manufacture of industrial diamond drilling products for the oil and gas industry. An opportunity arose to pivot to an entirely new career in 2008, as a Locomotive engineer on high-speed inter-city trains at Irish Rail. David enjoyed a career of 11 years of safe operations. During that time, he graduated in 2014 from UCD ( university college Dublin) with a Health and Safety qualification.
David married his wife who is from New York and he moved to the U.S in 2019 and took up a position with ULC Robotics in Hauppauge, as a robotics technician contracted to remediate natural gas pipelines, utilizing custom robotics systems for ConEd and National Grid. In 2021 David joined Brookhaven lab and works in the Isotope Production department as a Blip and Cyclotron operator. He is a U.S citizen.
