Dr. Chimanski is a theoretical physicist in the National Nuclear Data Center (NNDC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). He has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA), Brazil, on quantum mechanical models of pre-equilibrium reactions under the advisory of Prof. Dr. Brett V. Carlson (ITA) and Dr. Roberto Capote (IAEA). Before joining BNL he was a postdoc at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), under the supervision of Dr. Jutta E. Escher, to develop a microscopic description of deformed nuclei for structure modeling and nucleon-induced reactions. Dr. Chimanski has experience in nuclear structure/reaction theory and numerical codes. His current research interests are in direct and pre-equilibrium reaction modeling, nuclear structure modeling, and gamma-ray production data evaluation and library development for applications.
