Jean Clifford Brutus

     I joined Brookhaven National Laboratory in 2011 and I have been an employee at the Collider Accelerator Department (CAD) for over 13 years. I have maintained stability of employment and have consistently advanced within the organization, expanding my role and assuming new responsibilities. In my current role, I serve as the Lead Project Engineer and Project Manager for the Coherent Electron Cooling Experiment. As the Lead Project Engineer, I am responsible for the overall planning, scheduling, operational and engineering support for the experiment, including design development, 3D modelling, analysis, simulation, testing, and troubleshooting.  I lead and facilitate internal and external cross-functional teams during the different phases, fabrication, assembly, testing, installation and commissioning of the beam line. I track and ensure completion of any corrective action items as a result of Safety Reviews (Radiation Safety Review; RSC and Accelerator Systems Safety Review Committee; ASSRC). I coordinate design and safety reviews, infrastructure requirements and services, testing requirements, installation planning and execution, and preparation for commissioning. I ensure that all work is planned and executed in accordance with BNL safety policies and procedures.

    As the Project Manager, I assist the Project Director to prepare Project Execution Plan (PEP) report for a DOE review, including work breakdown structure (WBS), risk analysis, loaded schedule, decision points and milestones. I track and maintain the detailed schedule  with needed resources and cost throughout the planning and execution phase. I provide periodic status reports and prepare technical engineering presentations/reports for design and safety reviews.
