Sowinski joined the Collider-Accelerator Department / Electron-ion Collider at BNL in 2020. He currently oversees high power RF systems at LINAC, RHIC, LeREC, & CeC. From 2001 to 2018 he worked as a RF Design Engineer at Communication Power Corporation where he designed RF power amplifiers for MRI, MRS, NMR, EPR, and particle accelerator systems. From 2018 to 2020 he was a Senior Electrical Engineer for IFF and electronic warfare products at Comtech PST (now Stellant PST).
Expertise
Extensive experience developing high power, broadband passive and active RF components, integrated modules, and systems covering the MF, HF, VHF, UHF, and L bands. Specialization in dual directional couplers, dividers & combiners, filters, quadrature hybrid dividers and combiners, driver amplifiers, and power amplifiers. Amplifier designs utilizing GaN, GaAs, LDMOS, & VDMOS technologies. Pulsed and CW applications from tens of watts to hundreds of kilowatts.
