Gail O'Hern

Gail O’Hern is an HR thought leader with more than 30 years of experience at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Widely known across the DOE national laboratory system, she is recognized for developing impactful compensation programs and leading initiatives that support a modern, high-performing workforce.

She manages a team of seven HR professionals and oversees compensation strategy and employee records governance. Gail has led numerous improvements to modernize compensation programs, implement flexible work arrangements, and strengthen rewards and recognition efforts across the Laboratory.

In her role, she designs and administers incentive compensation programs aligned with organizational goals and ensures compliance with Prime Contract expectations and regulatory requirements.

Gail is known for her collaborative approach, strong partnerships across the DOE complex, and commitment to advancing fair, competitive, and effective workforce practices at BNL.
