Dr. Saroj Sah is a Research Associate in the Biology Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where he conducts research in Dr. John Shanklin’s laboratory. His work focuses on plant lipid metabolism and synthetic biology, with the goal of enhancing triacylglycerol (TAG) and total fatty acid (TFA) accumulation in plants.
Dr. Sah applies molecular genetics, multi-gene pathway engineering, and integrated multi-omics approaches—including metabolomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics—to dissect and optimize metabolic networks that control carbon partitioning. His research targets plastidial metabolic shunts, intracellular transport processes, and lipid assembly pathways to improve oil production in Arabidopsis, Camelina, and other oilseed crops. Through these efforts, he aims to advance sustainable bioenergy and bioproduct development.
