Expertise
With over 20 years of professional experience at Brookhaven National Laboratory, my expertise lies in the architecture, design, deployment, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems for large particle accelerators. My work encompasses both hardware design—such as FPGA, PLC, electronics, PCB, and instrumentation design—and software design, including EPICS-based large-scale control systems.
Research Activities
My research primarily focuses on the control of large systems, including real-time control of nonlinear systems, the application of machine learning to control, and feedback control for multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) systems.
Education
I earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science in 2001, a Master's degree in Computer Science in 1999, and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997, all from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. I received my Bachelor's degree in Physics in 1991 from Tsinghua University.
Professional Appointments
I am the Group Leader of the Instrumentation and Controls (IC) Group in the Data Science and Systems Integration (DSSI) Division at NSLS-II.
