First Steel Arrives for NSLS-II Ring Building

The first shipment of steel beams dedicated for the NSLS-II ring building arrived at the construction site last week. Workers are now assembling the interior skeleton of the ring building, which will house the accelerator ring. Large cranes will lift and place the beams as construction progresses in a clockwise direction. As more shipments arrive, additional buildings will begin to take shape, starting with the building housing the radio frequency cavities and continuing to service building #1 and, later, the cooling tower.
