Partners

Many Lab employees are active in their communities and donate their time and talent to local organizations. Primarily, employees donate their time outside of their regularly scheduled working hours.* Shown below are some of the many organizations with whom Brookhaven Lab partners. Adopt-a-Platoon In conjunction with the Brookhaven Veterans Association (BVA) Lab employees collect care packages for troops.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Lab employees drop off clothes on-site at Lab for a clothing drive

Brookhaven Interface In conjunction with Brookhaven Employees’ Recreation Association, Lab employees donate school supplies and toys for a toy drive.

Coastal Steward Long Island Lab employees participate in beach cleanups at various sites

Dress for Success Brookhaven Lab employees donate women’s business suits at various drop off points on-site which are donated to help unemployed women when they attend job interviews.

Girls Inc. of Long Island, The Lab’s Workforce Development and Science Education Office coordinates with Girls Inc to provide learning workshops.

Habitat for Humanity* Lab employees have the opportunity to participate in half day and full day builds at various Habitat sites.

Island Harvest* Lab employees can donate food, participate in food sorting activities, or even help out on a local farm affiliated with Island Harvest.

Long Island Seaport and Expo Center Lab employees participate in a boat race to raise awareness of the expo center and to celebrate some of the Lab’s employee resource groups.

New York Blood Center* Lab employees have an opportunity to participate in virtual blood drives near their homes or to donate on-site at the Brookhaven Center in conjunction with the Occupational Medicine Clinic.

New York League of Conservation Voters Lab employees have the opportunity to participate in various virtual and in-person environmental educational workshops.

Seatuck Environmental Association Lab employees have the opportunity to participate in Seatuck’s Bats & Brews event and to attend or volunteer at their annual Earth Day Eco-carnival.

Suffolk County Parks  Lab employees participate in Smith Point Park beach cleanup.

Suffolk County Veterans Run Series In conjunction with the Brookhaven Veteran’s Association, Lab employees raise awareness and funds to help veterans in Suffolk County.

United Way of Long Island Lab employees have the opportunity to donate raffle baskets and to contribute to the United Way’s Annual campaign.

You Give Goods Lab employees have an opportunity to purchase food items online that will be included in food drives and school supply drives to help people less fortunate.

* Brookhaven Science Associates permits employees to participate in the following activities during regularly scheduled Lab hours: Island Harvest food sorting, Habitat for Humanity builds, on-site United Way activities and donating blood through the NY Blood Center on-site with the Occupational Medicine Clinic (OMC).
