A Message from the EIC Project Director

Jim Yeck

Jim Yeck

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) project newsletter.

As we continue building the world's first polarized Electron-Ion Collider, we are excited to launch this newsletter as a way to share updates with our broad community of supporters, stakeholders, collaborators, and friends. The EIC is a transformative scientific endeavor made possible through the dedication and partnership of people and institutions across the nation and around the world.

In each issue, you'll find project updates, major milestones, highlights of the talented staff helping bring the EIC to life, and news about events and activities across the EIC community. We hope these stories provide a window into the progress, innovation, and teamwork that are driving the project forward.

This issue also marks an important leadership transition for the EIC project. After many rewarding years at the EIC, I have decided to retire and will be stepping down as EIC project director in September 2026. Serving this project has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an exceptional team and to help advance the vision of the EIC. I am pleased to share that Allen Weeks has been named the next EIC project director and will assume the role in September. I have every confidence that the project is well positioned for continued success under Allen's leadership. To learn more about Allen and the upcoming leadership transition, please read the announcement in this newsletter.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We look forward to sharing our journey with you as we work together to make the EIC a reality.

Sincerely,

Jim Yeck
Director, Electron-Ion Collider Project
