'Meeting at the Crossroads' Blues Concert at Brookhaven Lab, March 20

UPTON, NY - "Meeting at the Crossroads," a blues concert featuring Joe Vicino and the Smokedaddys and The Dare Ya Blues Band, will be held in Berkner Hall at the U.S. Department of Energy_s Brookhaven National Laboratory on Saturday, March 20, at 8 p.m. Sponsored by the BNL Music Club, the concert will be open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.
Joe Vicino and the Smokedaddys, featuring Vicino on guitar and lead vocals, Pete Kiernan on bass and Ralph Santiago on drums, have played at many local venues, including the Yankee Peddler in Merrick, Giacomo Jack's in Amityville, and Belle's East in Southampton. Their musical influences range from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Jimi Hendrix and Motown to Chicago blues. The band has recorded four CDs, with a fifth due out this spring.
The Dare Ya Blues Band is made up of five musicians who are veterans of the Long Island music scene. Band mates Johnny Dunn and Luke Alvino have rejoined, combining their talents in songwriting and performing. The band plays original blues, while adding some unique twists to their favorite cover songs. They have played at such clubs as The Viking in Islip, Nawlin_s Grille in Mineola, Paula Jean_s in Setauket, and the A&M Roadhouse in New York City. The band_s second CD, titled "Lonely Street," is completed and will be available at the show.
Tickets for the show cost $10 each in advance and $15 each on the day of the show. They may be purchased at the Brookhaven Employees Recreation Association Sales Office on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Bluepoint Brewing Company, or through the band's Web sites - www.smokedaddys.com , www.dareyablues.com - and at their live performances.
