Small Business Fair to be Held at Brookhaven Lab, April 30

Upton, NY - A Small Business Fair will be held at the U.S. Department of Energy_s (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory on Friday, April 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sponsored by Brookhaven Lab in collaboration with the Brookhaven Town Small Business Advisory Council, DOE, the Small Business Development Center at Brookhaven Lab, Farmingdale University, and Stony Brook University, the fair will provide opportunities for small business personnel to network with buyers from large businesses to understand their needs, with the goal of winning contracts. The fair is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

"We hope that new contracts for small businesses will come about from this fair, and that it will help large businesses meet their subcontracting goals," said Jill Clough-Johnston, Brookhaven Lab_s Small Business Liaison Officer.

Congressman Timothy H. Bishop will be the keynote speaker at the fair. The fair_s highlights include workshops on "Small Business Administration Certification for Minority & Hub-Zone Small Businesses," and "How to Market Your Business to the Government." Approximately ten local large businesses will display exhibits at the fair, and the afternoon will feature site tours of Brookhaven Lab, for interested participants.

Small business personnel do not have to register for the fair. Clough-Johnston recommends that they bring their business cards and marketing information to distribute to the large businesses on hand. For more information, call (631) 344-3173.
