UPTON, NY - The U.S. Department of Energy's Small Business Development Center (DOE SBDC) will hold an open house at Brookhaven National Laboratory's Berkner Hall on Wednesday, December 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Experts from various organizations will offer advice to those who own or wish to start a small business. The event is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

Representatives from the following agencies will be available to answer questions concerning small businesses: DOE SBDC, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program, and the Long Island Development Corporation's Procurement & Technical Assistance Program.

The DOE SBDC at Brookhaven Lab is open for one-on-one counseling by a highly trained and experienced counselor who can help those interested in developing a business or expanding a business.

In addition to the open house, the DOE SBDC will offer a series of free monthly workshops starting in January for owners or would-be owners of small businesses. The workshops will be held at Brookhaven Lab and will be open to the public. So far, the topics will include business basics, e-commerce and patents and trademarks. If you would like to suggest a topic that you feel would be useful to small business owners, or for more information about the open house, call DOE SBDC at 631 632-9070.

The Laboratory is located on William Floyd Parkway (County Road 46), one-and-a-half miles north of Exit 68 of the Long Island Expressway.
