BNL Honored for Pollution Prevention Efforts in 2004

Upton, N.Y. - The Department of Energy's Office of Science recently honored Brookhaven National Laboratory for pollution prevention and environmental stewardship in 2004. During an April meeting with Office of Science Director Raymond L. Orbach, Lab Director Praveen Chaudhari accepted a "Noteworthy Practices" award for BNL's Fleet Managers Pollution Prevention Workshop, held in May 2004.

The one-day, free workshop brought representatives from local business, civic, education, employee, community, and environment and health organizations to the Lab to learn about fleet-maintenance pollution-prevention techniques and how to economize and be earth-friendly in managing large numbers of vehicles.
