Cello-Guitar Duo in Concert at Brookhaven Lab, October 19

UPTON, NY - Cellist Michael Jones and guitarist Agustin Maruri will perform together in a concert to be held at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, October 19, at noon in Berkner Hall Auditorium. Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages Brookhaven Lab, the concert is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and older must bring a photo ID.

Formed in Madrid in 1990, the Jones/Maruri Duo has given concerts around the world. In the U.S., they have performed at Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Museum as well as other prestigious venues across the nation. The two artists explore a novel repertoire rich in music from the Spanish tradition. Their CD, "Original Music for Cello and Guitar," was among the top ten most popular recordings in Hong Kong for one year. The duo has recorded three CDs of original music, the most recent one recorded in 2004, called "Don Quijote and Dulcinea."
