Pianist William Chapman Nyaho to Give a Concert at Brookhaven Lab, Jan. 25

Pianist William Chapman Nyaho will give a concert featuring little-known composers from Africa, the Caribbean, England and the United States at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, January 25, at noon in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages Brookhaven Lab, the concert is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory are 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

Pianist William Chapman Nyaho
A native of Ghana, West Africa, William Chapman Nyaho earned a bachelor's degree from the Honour School of Music at Oxford University, a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, and a Ph.D. in musical arts from the University of Texas. Following a four-year residency as a North Carolina visiting artist, Nyaho taught at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1991-2002. He was honored with the 1998 University of Southwestern Louisiana Distinguished Professor Award and the 1998 Acadiana Arts Council Distinguished Artist Award.
Nyaho has given recitals in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and the U.S., including Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center. He also has performed as soloist with orchestras across the southern U.S. He was featured on radio and television broadcasts in Ghana, Switzerland and National Public Radio, and he developed and hosted "The Bach Show" for the classical radio station KRVS in Louisiana.
