Pianist Jiayin Shen to Give a Concert at Brookhaven Lab, March 22

UPTON, NY - Pianist Jiayin Shen will give a concert at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, March 22, at noon in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages Brookhaven Lab, the concert is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.
In 1986, seven-year-old Jiayin Shen made history as the youngest student ever admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music in China. Eleven years later, Shen came to the U.S. to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. Today, she holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Michigan, and she made her American debut in 2002 with the University of Michigan Philharmonic. She also has toured extensively throughout China, England, Germany, Switzerland, and the U.S.
Shen was awarded the top prize in the Xin Hai National Piano Competition in Beijing, China, and the University of Michigan Concerto Competition. In addition to performing solo, Shen frequently collaborates with various chamber music ensembles.
