August 15, 2006
UPTON, NY - Country singer Mary Lamont and her band will give a concert at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Saturday, September 16, at 8 p.m. Sponsored by the BNL Music Club, the concert is open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.
Born in Ontario, Canada, and now Long Island-based, Mary Lamont has been called "Queen of Long Island Country" by Newsday and the Christian Science Monitor. Lamont and her band have recently completed a tour of China, but they usually perform closer to home, at the Jones Beach Boardwalk Bandshell, the North Fork Theatre, and the Inter-Media Art Center, among other venues. The New Jersey Country Music Association twice voted Lamont "Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year," and she has received several honors from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Tickets for the show cost $15, and may be purchased through www.ticketweb.com; at the Brookhaven Employees Recreation Office, weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; or at the door on the evening of the performance.
