Dog Days Blues Festival and Concerts at Brookhaven Lab, August 10 and 18

UPTON, NY - Two outstanding days of music are scheduled at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory next month. As part of the Dog Days Blues Festival, on Friday, August 10, the Kerry Kearney Band, 3 AM (3 American Men), and the Jacks O'Diamonds bands will perform at 6 p.m. in the Brookhaven Center. On Saturday, August 18, at 8 p.m. in the Berkner Hall auditorium, well-known musicians Mem Shannon and Sam "Bluzman" Taylor will take the stage. Sponsored by the BNL Music Club and the Long Island Blues Society, the events are open to the public. Visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

Long Island guitarist/songwriter and singer Kerry Kearney and his band will headline the Dog Days Blues Festival. Kearney and his band are well known in the music arena and have performed in small venues, as well as in front of thousands at festivals such as the annual Riverhead Blues Festival.

Veteran musicians 3AM, will open the show with a wide variety of classic songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, as well as contemporary music.

Jacks O' Diamonds, a high-energy trio, perform original compositions as well as versions of songs by legendary musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

At the August 18 show, Mem Shannon, a former New Orleans cab driver who is now a guitar player, songwriter, and singer, will play a unique blend of jazz, funk, blues, soul, and R&R. He has been nominated for two 2006 Blues Music Awards and uses his sharp wit and social commentary in his vocals. He will be accompanied by his band, which consists of drums, bass, saxophone and keyboard.

Sam "Bluzman" Taylor's career in music spans more than 40 years. An inductee into the Blues Hall of Fame, Taylor is a multiple winner of national songwriting contests and author of the gold record by BT Express, "(Do It) Until You're Satisfied."
