UPTON, NY - Internationally renowned cellist Richard Sher and gifted pianist Marta Felcman will appear in concert at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory on Wednesday, September 12, at noon in Berkner Hall. Sponsored by Brookhaven Science Associates, the company that manages Brookhaven Lab, the concert is free and open to the public. All visitors to the Laboratory age 16 and over must bring a photo ID.

Richard Sher has appeared in concert halls in Europe and the United States. He made his debut at the early age of 16 as a soloist with the New York Orchestral Society. At age 18, he became the youngest cellist to join the Boston Symphony Orchestra and at age 19, became the youngest principal cellist of the St. Louis Orchestra. While in Europe, Sher performed in concerts halls such as Berlin's Hochschule, London's Wigmore Hall, and Vienna's Beethovensaal. He is also a founding member of the Cambridge Chamber Players, based in Massachusetts.

Marta Felcman began playing piano at the age of four. Felcman has appeared in concert halls around the world including Vienna, Buenos Aires, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Carnegie Hall. In 2006, Felcman released her second CD, in which she performed personal interpretations of music by renowned German composer and pianist Robert Schumann.
