Workshop on Nanoscience Opportunities for the High Tech Industry Hosted

On November 13, 2007, the Center for Functional Nanomaterials hosted the Workshop on Nanoscience Opportunities for the High Tech Industry. The purpose of the workshop was to showcase the resources available at the CFN to representatives from high-tech companies. Participants at the workshop learned in detail about the CFN's research program and its advanced instruments; met with CFN staff and explored opportunities to solve nanotech problems; discussed how the CFN and BNL can help the nanotechnology industry; learned about other BNL user facilities, such as the National Synchrotron Light Source; toured the new CFN facilities and learned how to become a CFN external user.

Invited speakers included Martin Moskovits of CTO API Nanotronics, who spoke on "Nanotechnology in Industry," and Jonathan Mason, Axiom Capital Management, who gave a talk on "Nanotechnology and Venture Capital."

There were a total of 54 registered attendees from 19 companies and 5 universities.
