The program is coordinated by the Lab's Stakeholder Relations Office in partnership with Colonial Youth and Family Services in Mastic.

Partnering with Colonial Youth and Family Services in Mastic for the fifth year in a row, Lab employees from across the site once again exhibited their generosity by participating in the Adopt-a-Family program. Partnering with other organizations, Colonial Youth and Family Services will distribute gifts to nearly 150 local families.

This year, Lab employees supported 19 families (a total of 89 people) by donating gifts that ranged from toys, warm coats, guitars, and even bicycles!  Donations also included baskets of food to help families experiencing difficult times to not only receive gifts, but also put meals on their table.

“Every year I am reminded how incredibly generous our employees are,” said Tara Shiels of the Stakeholder Relations Office, who leads the program for the Lab.  “We couldn’t put smiles on the faces of children and their parents without the compassion of everyone at the Lab who donates and helps coordinate our efforts.”

Shiels added that she also wants to thank the Lab drivers who load all the packages and deliver them to the drop-off site in Mastic.  “Thanks to all who help make our program a huge success. I can’t think of a better way to kick off the holiday season,” she said.
