Allison McGovern is Cultural Resources Manager for Brookhaven National Laboratory. In this role, she manages compliance requirements for the laboratory under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). She also overseas the protection of cultural resources throughout the campus. Cultural resources include archaeological and historic sites, historic buildings, objects, and landscapes, as well as resources important to Native American Nations, and are protected by various federal and state laws. Allison works with project managers, engineers, and researchers to evaluate how and if any proposed projects might impact cultural resources.

Allison is an anthropologist whose multidcisplinary work integrates archaeology with historical research methods, environmental planning, and historic preservation advocacy. She has worked as a professional archaeologist for twenty years and specializes in Long Island history and historic preservation.
