Gábor Galgóczi leads the physics, performance and validation development of Simphony, an open source GPU Monte Carlo framework for optical photon transport on NVIDIA OptiX and CUDA that sustains 80 million simulated photons per second on a single GPU, agrees with Geant4 to within 0.25%, and ships in the Electron Ion Collider software stack.
He conceived and co-leads an LDRD project extending the framework to liquid argon neutrino detectors, where it is used by Brookhaven's DUNE group, and has implemented GPU synchrotron radiation X-ray transport for Electron Ion Collider beam-background studies.
