Qianyu is trained as an ecologist with a focus on the influence of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems. She is interested in using mathematic models to understand ecosystem carbon, water and nutrients dynamics, and the interactions between the terrestrial ecosystems and the climate. She has rich experience in data-assimilation, global land surface modeling, model uncertainty analysis and handling global-scale datasets. During her Ph.D. study, she developed a strong systematic understanding of the carbon cycle dynamics in real ecosystems and models. Here in TEST group Qianyu is trying to improve the model representation of leaf and canopy processes in tropical forests with the state-of-the-art land surface model.
