Expertise

45 years of particle accelerator equipment experience in the Collider Accelerator Department and the Electron-Ion Collider project at BNL.

This includes the design, development, and installation of vacuum, magnet, and instrumentation systems for all of the accelerators in the RHIC complex.

Joseph was the mechanical engineering lead for the Spallation Neutron Source project responsible for the accumulator ring and beam transfer lines. Recently, he has been the project engineer for the Coherent electron Cooling proof of principle project, the Low Energy RHIC electron Cooling project, and the L2 lead for the CBETA ring magnet program.  Joseph was the Division Director for the EIC Technical Systems Divison, the L2 Lead for Accelerator Support Systems for the project, the L3 lead for EIC the RHIC removals program and accelerator beam line systems installation effort.  As the EIC project has matured these roles have be passed on to others.  With the Nuclear and Particle Physics transition into the Fundamental Interactions and Particles Directorate, the EIC Technical Systems Division has become part of the new Technical Division.  Joseph remains in the EIC Project Division as the EIC Chief Project Engineer.
